Avatars United Application Released

by Xxav on August 12, 2009, 11:23 am, under EverQuest, EverQuest 2, Site Updates, World of Warcraft

I’m proud to finally announce the release of an Avatars United application that will allow you to add guild progress information to your Avatars United profile. What is Avatars United? It is basically Facebook for gamers:

Avatars United (AU) is a community for your virtual avatars. Register your avatar, upload your profile picture, write your biography and share some of your exploits in virtual worlds through pictures, videos and blogs.

You can learn more about their site and goals through this link. It is a really cool site and I encourage everyone to check it out!

If you do find yourself signing up and creating a profile, don’t forget to install the guildprogress.com application. It is available in WoW, EQ, and EQ2 flavors. You can find them in the applications directory. Using data from guildprogress.com, you can show off your guild’s recent PvE accomplishments on your profile page and provide a more in depth look on the application page. You may also configure the application to automatically post to your activity feed when your guild defeats new bosses or completes new achievements or also when your guild moves up in rank. This is just an initial release and I hope to do a lot more with it in the near future. You can check out my avatar’s WoW guildprogress.com application by clicking here.

I hope you all enjoy it and feel free to unite with me after you sign up!

Guild Comments Added

by Xxav on July 29, 2009, 10:56 pm, under Site Updates

You now have the ability to post comments about a guild on their guild page. Just click the Comments button in the guild sidebar. This is a very simple comment system that I will improve upon if it seems like people are using it. Guild leaders could also use this spot to advertise guild recruitment information.

Please feel free to share any thoughts you have about the new addition here.

In case you are having trouble submitting a comment, make sure you drag the slider next to the submit button all the way to the right before clicking submit. This is done to prevent bots from spamming comments. Enjoy! :)

Tooltips Expanded

by Xxav on July 11, 2009, 6:09 am, under Site Updates

The tooltips on the main chart now contain more information. You can mouse now over a table cell to view what bosses the guild has and has not completed in that zone. This tooltip will also display significant achievements as well total achievements completed in the zone. The goal here is to make it easy to get to the data you want to see.

You’ll also notice the new ‘Hard Mode’ column for Ulduar. These achievements now play a large role in how the guilds are ranked.

The guild charts may be revamped soon to include the new focus on ‘Hard Mode’ achievements. Enjoy! :)

Slight Rankings Tweak

by Xxav on July 7, 2009, 4:05 am, under Site Updates

I made a slight change to the way the rankings are done so you may notice some slight shuffling. The method in which kill dates were being prioritized had a minor flaw to it which was giving slightly less points than intended on kills that less of the population had completed.

I am also pondering changes that might place more emphasis on progress rather than quantity and dates. Unlike other guild progress sites, we do not simply rank based on who is further into the content. Completion dates and and minor achievements also factor into our scoring.

Would you like to see more emphasis placed on who is further in progression? Or keep it how it is with dates and minor achievements playing a role in determining the rankings? An extreme example would be: Should a guild who was formed yesterday and has completed all the content be ranked higher than a guild who has achieved world firsts on every kill yet has failed to defeat the last boss? Hmmm….

Additional Badge Layouts Added

by Xxav on June 16, 2009, 12:21 am, under EverQuest, EverQuest 2, Site Updates, World of Warcraft

I’ve finally gotten around to adding a few more options for the guild badges. You are now able to choose a tall or wide badge in addition to the small square badge. These new badge sizes include two eras worth of stats. You can build them using the “Build Guild Badge” link in the guild sidebar. If you run into any problems or have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to comment here!

I am also interested in hearing what new features you would like to have added to the site. Please drop me a note here or use the contact button at the bottom of the site. Thanks for visiting!
