Slowness
by Xxav on April 21, 2009, 2:37 pm, under Site Updates
I’m aware of the slow loading times on some pages and I am working with the new host to get things sorted out.
Update: I think most of the slow load times should be gone. We’ll know on Monday when everyone hammers the site while they are at work
April 23rd, 2009 on 7:36 pm
I’m not concerned about the speed of loading – but I am very concerned about the time it is taking to get our achievements updated. We queue on the crawler several times a day, the armory is up to date with our achievements, yet the site shows that we have only downed 3 bosses when in fact we have downed 5 (Arachnid, Aggramar EU). We are recruiting members atm and losing them to guilds who have progressed further than we have (according to guildprogress).

The problem with automated updating is that there are some situations where not everything is going to be captured. If an achievement was completed with less than the minimum number needed then it will be missed. In most cases that is 18 for Heroic and 7 for Normal. If the crawler does not see 18 ( or 7 ) people in the Armory with the achievement then it will not add it.
What I can suggest is to use the contact link at the bottom of the page and send me a message with ALL the details of what is missing and I can manually add them.

I have had the same issue for several days ive been trying to upload our progress in 10 man ulduar and nothing has happened when it finally does it only shows us killing kologarn when infact we downed both Kologarn and Aruiaya the same evening?
I would be very pleased if you fixed that.
THe guild is CHimaera of Nagrand Eu server.
Kind regards Shischka.

We have the same issue Shischka – we downed Kologarn and Auriaya the same evening (with 10 people in raid) but even now haven’t got the credit for the kills.
Beginning to lose a bit of faith in this site – which is a shame as it was my number one source of checking progress.

Hey guys, I think the problem is with the crawler. The server queue up the request of achievement update and sends the tasks to individual crawlers that people download and run on their computer. If when they get armory error, the scan is obviously a bad one but the queued guild is already left the queue so you think it would have been updated by it did not due to the error.
I often just force a scan a few times at different time of the day.
April 24th, 2009 on 2:06 pm
If the scan doesn’t finish all the members of a guild then the guild will be placed back into the queue. Guilds that appear “stuck” crawling should be “unstuck” every 30mins.

Something is definitely wrong with the crawling program. My guild has NO achievements showing yet we have done several. I have checked our armories and everything is correct there. “Shutout” would be a good example, 25 people got that one on Tuesday and it still isn’t showing. Bummer.

On my realm people pay close attention to progression, we’re one of the youngest realms. It’s a huge problem when we downed 5 bosses in 1 day but 2 days later ..no update on this site. It severely hampers recruitment as we’re trying to get enough ppl to do heroics, yet we went from 4th to 14th do to lack of updates after 48 hrs. I also wonder how some guilds on our realm get updated but ours does not. (EU, Nagrand)

I force scan 5 times a day that should be enough to make it register yes? I too wonder how some guilds get their achievements and bosskills registered and some doesnt? I see other guilds pass us who has downed bosses later than us and ours still hasnt registered on this site..its a damn shame as I think this way of registering and calculating guild progression is far far better than sites such as wowjutsu which is only loot based and not much else.

Ullysis, I forced rescans of all top 25 guilds on EU, Nagrand, only a few downed more than 5 bosses. I did the same thing on wowprogress, which showed the same that only a few downed more than 4 bosses. So I think your problem is that you did not have enough players in your guild with that achievement. Remember for an achievement to register, you have to have 7 or 8 people complete it in 10 and 20 or 18? in 25 version.

Hmm, 7 or 8 people in the 10 man to receive the achievement. Does this mean we don’t move any higher for downing the bosses? We downed the 1st 2 quarters and Hodir. That does not show on your site. Just to clarify, are you saying this site will not upgrade our boss kills “until” we get an achievement while killing the boss? If that’s not the case then how come we’ve not moved since week? Just wondering so i get a very clear idea on how this works in case I need to setup 2 grps of 10 mans.

The site scans armory, for each guild, there must be more than 8 people that have killed a boss in normal or 20 people in heroic for the site to recognize that “Yes, this guild has killed, say, Freya”.
Not just guildprogress.com, but all other rank tracking sites implement this to ensure that a guild that killed a boss and get the credit for it is indeed a guild effort. This is done to prevent pug or getting “carried” by other top guilds.
You may have killed a boss or many bosses, but if you were in 10 player raid and 3 of the players were not your guildies, then this site, along with any other rank tracking sites, would not give you the credit for killing those bosses.

Every single kill to date (including Thorim from 26th April) has been all guild members. My guild does not pug, we’re only about 18 active members. At least 8 of the same people have been in every kill and I can send you the list if it’d help. Tbh, i’m not complaining to you btw, just trying to be helpful in-case this data is relevant to what you do or need but to reiterate (even though I know armory is kinda slow), we’ve had the same members for all kills and I’m the GM, MainTank and Raid leader so you’re getting accurate information. Thanks anyways, it’s still a cool site. Better than nothing

I can manually add kills if you send me all the relevant information. Use the contact link at the bottom of any of the pages on the site (except the blog).

Xxav i think you doing an awesome job and that this site is an awesome way of monitoring guild progress etc just to get that clear
I just wanted to tell you that none of the Ulduar bosses downed by us has had pugs in them so im going to send you screenshots etc to verify hope that helps you (and Chimeara) out
Keep up the good work

I’m in agreement with Shischka – you are doing an amzing job and I can only begin to wonder what leves of complexity there are in the coding for the site. Please don’t take any of this feedback as QQ – we are trying to help – and the level of interest in the site should tell you how valuable the WoW community find it!

Thanks for the comments
Any feedback is good feedback.

I can’t locate your contact button you have mentioned. I tried emailing but I have not received any reply. We are guild on The Venture Co. called Colossus and have killed Heroic Rotface more than 4x now. Our first kill was on April 14th… here is our combat log of the fight

I hope I didn’t leave out any other needed information.
