Crawler Update
by Xxav on April 30, 2009, 1:00 pm, under WoW Crawler
I just rolled out a forced update for the crawler. I fixed a bug that would cause the crawler to crash after it had been running for a long time. Other updates are listed on http://crawler.guildprogress.com.
I have plans to add a feature to the crawler to allow users to choose a guild to crawl. This way you would not have to force an update through the site. Any suggestions, comments, or complaints about the crawler?
RSS Feeds
by Xxav on April 26, 2009, 1:21 am, under Site Updates
I added some simple RSS Feeds for guilds and servers. Currently, they show the 10 latest boss kills for either the guild or the server. You can subscribe to these feeds by clicking the RSS Icon
on the top right of the rankings or guild pages. For the time being I am just going to leave them to show the latest boss kills and I will add achievements and what not later on.
If you have no idea what RSS is then you can check this link out: http://www.whatisrss.com/
To separate, or not to separate?
by Xxav on April 21, 2009, 9:16 pm, under World of Warcraft
I’ve received a few emails suggesting that the 10 and 25 man Ulduar content be separate. While this is relatively easy for me to do, I was wondering what everyone thought on this.
If I did separate them, Ulduar 10 and Ulduar 25 will essentially appear on the site as separate “eras.” As a result, there would be separate standings for 10 and 25 man Ulduar. Ulduar 25 would be placed on the front page as the default “era.” You could, of course, still navigate to the separate eras via the drop down menu on the charts.
Thoughts?
EDIT: They are now separate!
If you can see this…

…then you are now resolving to the correct version of the site.
If you notice anything broken please comment here or use the contact link at the bottom of any page.
Thanks for your patience!
Slowness
by Xxav on April 21, 2009, 2:37 pm, under Site Updates
I’m aware of the slow loading times on some pages and I am working with the new host to get things sorted out.
Update: I think most of the slow load times should be gone. We’ll know on Monday when everyone hammers the site while they are at work
